Toshiba has announced the launch of the new Canvio Ready portable hard drive, which houses a 2.5-inch mechanical hard drive. Toshiba states that the new product supports simple plug-and-play storage, providing ample space for photos, videos, documents, and more, offering users a reliable choice for everyday storage.
The Canvio Ready portable hard drive features a redesigned matte black casing, with the top cover made from 65% recycled materials and a striped texture for improved grip. The new product offers dual protection and high reliability, which has been verified through testing. It incorporates a ramp load design to protect the disk platters and heads during movement, and includes a built-in shock sensor to reduce the risk of damage from bumps or drops, making it safe to carry around even on bumpy walks.
The Canvio Ready portable hard drive is available in 1TB, 2TB, and 4TB capacities. Its overall dimensions are 78 x 109 x 14 mm, with weights of approximately 124g (1TB), 147g (2TB), and 206g (4TB). It features a USB 3.2 Gen1 interface supporting data transfer speeds up to 5Gbit/s, includes a data cable, and is backward compatible with the USB 2.0 standard, ensuring compatibility with both new and older PCs.
The device ships with the NTFS format by default, allowing plug-and-play use on Windows 11 PCs. Mac users need to manually reformat the hard drive to exFAT for compatibility with macOS v26.4 / v15.7.5 / v14.8.5 to ensure normal read and write access.
