Take-Two recently discussed its PC release strategy again, stating that the platform's importance to the company is continually growing. However, GTA 6 is still targeting consoles for its initial launch, and the company has not announced any plans for a PC release.
At Take-Two's annual shareholder meeting, Chairman and CEO Strauss Zelnick was asked whether the PlayStation 5 Pro supply shortage would affect plans for the PC version of GTA 6. He first noted that this question essentially pertains to how the company schedules the PC release.
Zelnick stated that Take-Two typically releases products on platforms with a sufficiently large user base over time, and the company will adjust its strategy accordingly if a platform is no longer viable. He also emphasized that the PC platform is becoming increasingly important to Take-Two.
This response did not provide a specific release date for the PC version of GTA 6. Zelnick had previously stated that PC sales can account for up to half of total sales for major titles, but Take-Two still chose to launch the game on consoles first, focusing its efforts on the console release.
The shareholder meeting also addressed GTA Online. Zelnick reminded attendees that GTA 6 is a single-player experience; the existing GTA Online remains a stable business for Take-Two, and the company will continue to support it.
GTA 6 will launch on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S on November 19. The currently announced platforms do not include PC, and Take-Two has yet to confirm when the PC version will be released.
