Ryozo Tsujimoto Has No Regrets About Simultaneous PC and Console Launch for Monster Hunter Wilds

Recently, Monster Hunter Wilds producer Ryozo Tsujimoto stated that he does not regret launching the PC version simultaneously with the console versions. Although the game suffered from poor performance and frequent crashes after launch, he believes this was a challenge the team had to face.

The PC version of the game faced performance issues at launch, resulting in "Mostly Negative" reviews on Steam and ongoing discussions. Capcom subsequently released a series of updates; while some fixes improved performance, others introduced new problems.

Ryozo Tsujimoto reflected on this experience during this year's Tokyo Game Show. He stated that it was likely the most challenging period for the team in the development of the Monster Hunter series. Monster Hunter Wilds also marked the first time in the series that a title launched simultaneously on PC and consoles, with multiple challenges compounding to make subsequent adjustments more complex.

When asked whether the PC version should have been delayed, Ryozo Tsujimoto gave a negative answer. He explained that players on different platforms do not wish to be separated by staggered release dates, as having some play first while others catch up later is not what players want. Therefore, the team needed to take the step of simultaneous release.

Ryozo Tsujimoto also acknowledged the development team's dedication to continuous updates and expressed pride in the work they ultimately delivered. He hopes players can appreciate these efforts.

The team has learned from the challenges of the initial launch and subsequent updates. Ryozo Tsujimoto indicated that these lessons will be applied to create the best possible Monster Hunter Wilds: Sunbreak expansion, and will also carry over into the development of Capcom's future titles.
