Wardogs developer Bulkhead checks each applicant's Steam records during the hiring process to confirm whether they truly love and are familiar with first-person shooter games. The studio hopes that developers participating in major FPS projects understand the specific details of the genre.
Kane Allard, Senior Producer of Wardogs, stated that the studio conducts this check before applicants officially join the project, focusing on understanding their interest and experience with FPS games.
Bulkhead head Brammer emphasized that this practice is not a standard for evaluating a developer's ability. Applicants playing other genres or even not playing shooting games at all does not mean their development skills are inferior; the studio simply wants to ensure they genuinely care about the content and details of what the team is working on.
Brammer cited himself as an example, stating that he is also not suited to directly work on titles like Final Fantasy, which he is unfamiliar with. Since different game genres require different knowledge, Bulkhead prioritizes hiring developers who are familiar with FPS games.
