He believes it is a positive step to allow live-service games to avoid disappearing after service termination, re-releasing them in a format that ensures long-term preservation and continued recognition.
Shinnosuke Hirazawa, who was responsible for the adaptation of Another Eden: The Cat Beyond Time and Space, pointed out an inherent issue with live-service games: once the service is terminated, players can no longer play. It is also common for development scales to shrink after a game has been in operation for a long time.
Regarding titles like Octopath Traveler 0 and Final Fantasy Resonance, which follow a similar approach, Shinnosuke Hirazawa expressed his hope that such attempts will continue to increase. Developers take pride in the works they create, and if live-service titles can remain on the market in a different form, they have the opportunity to sustain attention.
Octopath Traveler: Champions of the Continent and Final Fantasy Brave Exvius underwent similar adjustments: removing live-service mechanics, adding story content, and launching as complete premium games. These adaptations allow the titles to no longer depend on their original mobile services and make them accessible to non-mobile gamers.
Shinnosuke Hirazawa believes that this approach is not only beneficial for preserving specific titles but also meaningful for the gaming medium as a whole, expressing his hope to see more similar projects in the future.
Another Eden: Origins is now available on Steam, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2 for $40. The game currently holds a "Mostly Positive" rating from players on Steam.
