Stellar Blade Has Not Reached Its Final Form; Kim Hyung-tae Says Sequel Will Further Refine the Original Story

SHIFT UP head Kim Hyung-tae confirmed that Stellar Blade will continue to expand beyond the Complete Edition. The sequel, Stellar Blade: Blood Rain, will further refine the series' storyline, and the original game itself may see new changes in the future.

Kim Hyung-tae attended Tokyo Game Show 2026, where Stellar Blade: Complete Edition for Nintendo Switch 2 was showcased. This version is scheduled for release on November 6 and will include all previously released content alongside the base game, such as the NieR and Goddess of Victory: Nikke collaboration DLCs, as well as nearly 130 outfits.

Regarding Stellar Blade: Blood Rain, Kim Hyung-tae stated that while he cannot reveal too much at this stage, the sequel will present the story of Stellar Blade in greater detail. Players who haven't experienced the original can enjoy it independently, while those familiar with the first game will discover more nuances. Conversely, playing the sequel will offer new perspectives on the original, with both titles complementing each other narratively.

The development approach for the sequel has also been adjusted. While most creatures in the previous game were created from scans of physical models, the team cannot rely solely on filming and scanning to expand the content scale of Stellar Blade: Blood Rain. They are currently advancing development by combining both scanned and non-scanned methods.

For the original Stellar Blade, Kim Hyung-tae believes the action system is the aspect new players should focus on most. The game may be challenging at first, but as players master the controls, they can unleash more flashy skills and take on even stronger enemies.

On the release day of Stellar Blade: Complete Edition, a Bayonetta collaboration will be launched for free, adding four outfits including the White Dress from the original game. Kim Hyung-tae mentioned that Bayonetta is one of his favorite action games and has influenced Stellar Blade.

Kim Hyung-tae denied that the Complete Edition marks the end of Stellar Blade's expansion, suggesting that changes to the original game may occur around the time of the sequel's release. He also confirmed that the Switch 2 version runs steadily at 50 to 60 frames per second in handheld mode, with all game data included on the cartridge.
