Xbox Adds "Mythic Achievement" Filter, Possibly Corresponding to Platinum Trophy Mechanism

Two new filters, "Completed Mythic Achievements" and "Incomplete Mythic Achievements," have appeared in the Xbox achievement system. "Mythic Achievements" is likely the name Xbox has adopted for its equivalent to PlayStation's Platinum Trophies, though the related features have not yet been officially explained.

Leaked screenshots show that the original "Completed" and "Incomplete" options remain, with the new "Mythic Achievement" filter not replacing them. This suggests the mechanism may not cover all games, nor will it necessarily be awarded uniformly upon reaching 100% completion in every game.

It remains uncertain whether already released games will receive supplementary support for "Mythic Achievements," or if the feature will be limited to future titles. Specific acquisition conditions, display methods, and coverage have also not yet been announced.

Xbox CEO Asha Sharma responded last month to player inquiries regarding the "Platinum Trophy equivalent mechanism." She stated that the development team is working on related content, with a target launch in late 2026.

News about Microsoft considering adjustments to the Xbox achievement system had surfaced earlier. About three years ago, Jez Corden mentioned on The Xbox Two podcast that he had discussed adding Platinum achievements to the ecosystem with an Xbox executive during Gamescom. At the time, the executive indicated that Microsoft intended to revamp the existing achievement system but would proceed based on development priorities and scheduling.

The two new filters that have appeared align with previous statements, providing more specific clues about Xbox's equivalent to Platinum Trophies. The final name, scope of support for older games, and official launch date are still awaiting announcement by Xbox.
