In recent months, PS5 emulators have made tremendous progress, with SharpEmu and KyTy demonstrating impressive results. Among them, the KyTy emulator has been able to launch the Demon's Souls Remake on PC, running at 30 FPS, whereas just a week ago it could only run the game at 1 FPS.
The KyTy emulator also successfully launched Grand Theft Auto V, with this open-world game running at an impressive 40 FPS in the emulator. Competition among PS5 emulators on PC is becoming increasingly fierce, and now another developer has brought a new breakthrough: successfully running the KyTy emulator on the Xbox Series X.
YouTube channel Devran Cosmo Uenal successfully ran PS5 games on an Xbox Series X using his experimental PS5X emulator. Specifically, he ported the KyTyPS5 emulator to the Xbox Series X developer mode, enabling it to run PS5 homebrew software and game backups. This is the functionality achieved by the current early version of PS5X.
Currently, PS5X is already capable of running several PS5 games, including GEX Trilogy, Hellboy: Web of Wyrd, Marvel's Avengers, and Quake II. He even personally played Quake II to demonstrate the emulator's actual performance.
Since PS5X is still in a very early stage of development, compatibility remains limited. According to the video description, there is still a lot of work to be done. However, some PS5 games can already run fully on the Xbox Series X via this emulator, with support for audio and controller input.
Considering the current pace of PS5 emulator development, with SharpEmu already launching Ghost of Yotei, it may not be long before PS5X can run some Sony exclusive games on the Xbox Series X.
