Build A Rocket Boy, the Scottish studio founded by former GTA series producer Leslie Benzies, is set to permanently shut down following another round of massive layoffs, according to multiple sources. However, the studio has not yet issued an official announcement regarding its closure.
Several studio employees have posted on LinkedIn revealing that their work at the company is coming to an end. Dan Hawkins, the head of talent acquisition, stated that he will stay until the very end to wrap up operations and has already begun looking for a new job, implying that the studio has no plans to continue operating.
A source confirmed to Kotaku that this is not a typical layoff; Build A Rocket Boy is completely winding down all operations. Nevertheless, the studio has not officially confirmed the news of its closure as of yet.
Build A Rocket Boy previously underwent multiple rounds of layoffs. Its flagship title, Everywhere, faced heavy criticism upon its June 2025 release due to bugs and performance issues, prompting the studio to continuously release updates in an attempt to improve the game. However, with news now emerging that the studio is shutting down, it remains uncertain whether Everywhere will receive further updates or if other projects previously announced by Build A Rocket Boy will continue development.
