Recently, Bahamut shared Chinese-language gameplay footage of "Dynasty Warriors 2: Xtreme Legends Remastered." The demo features the classic Battle of Hulao Pass stage, with players controlling Xiahou Dun. Full story cutscenes featuring iconic characters such as Lu Bu, Diao Chan, and Dong Zhuo are showcased. The high-definition remastered story animations faithfully recreate the narrative of the coalition's campaign against Dong Zhuo, while preserving the snowy battlefield scenery, troop combat scenes, and the characters' signature lines.
Gameplay Demo:
In addition to retaining the original game's core feel, new combat mechanics not present in the original have been added, such as dodging, precise guard, and calling your horse. A "Classic Settings" option is also provided with a one-touch switch, allowing veteran players to revert to control schemes closer to the original. The game introduces a new weapon synthesis system, enabling players to dismantle unwanted old weapons and transfer their attributes to craft customized exclusive weapons. Three brand-new independent storylines have also been added. Zi Luan, the protagonist from "Dynasty Warriors: Origins," joins the roster as a playable general, and the Bodyguard system has been enhanced with more customization options.
Regarding online features, the game will only support local split-screen two-player co-op at launch. Musou Mode, Free Mode, and Versus Mode can all be experienced locally with two players. The developers have confirmed that a patch adding online two-player co-op functionality will be released around January 2027, though no exact date has been announced yet. A playable demo was also available at the event, allowing players to choose from several generals to experience the Hulao Pass stage. Participants in the demo could also receive limited-edition general-themed merchandise.
"Dynasty Warriors 2: Xtreme Legends Remastered" is rebuilt using Unreal Engine 5. It includes all original content from "Dynasty Warriors 2" and Xtreme Legends, featuring a total of 42 Musou generals. The game is scheduled for release on October 1, 2026, for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Steam, and Switch 2. Pre-orders for the digital version are now open. The physical edition for Switch 2 will come in the form of a download code card, requiring an internet connection to download the full game, while the PS5 physical disc contains the complete game data.
