Hideo Kojima plans to expand Physint into a transmedia franchise encompassing films, series, animations, and more. Xbox has accepted this concept and decided to provide financial support for the project.
Physint was previously funded by Sony, but Sony withdrew its financial support several months ago, prompting Kojima Productions to seek other partners. In an interview, Hideo Kojima stated that since the cast had already been confirmed and project details finalized, he was unwilling to cancel development.
When presenting the project to Xbox, Hideo Kojima proposed a collaboration scope that extended beyond just a single game. He hoped to incorporate films, series, animations, TV programs, comics, and music from the very creation of the new IP, a proposal that Xbox accepted.
Hideo Kojima has previously expressed interest in filmmaking on multiple occasions. The vision proposed for Physint also incorporates cinematic content into the planning of this new IP.
With the change in partners, decisions regarding the game's platform availability will now rest with the new partner. Hideo Kojima stated that whether Physint comes to PlayStation now depends on Xbox's decision.
