Leaker account CentroLeaks has once again mentioned the Pokémon cross-region massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) project, stating that its release may still be two generations away. News of this project leaked last year, and it remains an unconfirmed rumor.
The Pokémon series has adjusted its gameplay multiple times in recent years, with Pokémon Legends: Arceus and Pokémon Legends: Z-A being notable attempts. Although the quality of mainline game development has faced criticism, with some players questioning corner-cutting, the series remains highly popular and has several new titles in the pipeline.
According to CentroLeaks, this cross-region MMORPG will not launch immediately after Pokémon Wind and Pokémon Wave, but will follow the next mainline title released after them. Specific gameplay details for the project remain limited at present.
CentroLeaks believes that the series' recent entries have gradually expanded online interaction. Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield allow players to see other online players in real time in certain areas, while Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet further support online interaction across the entire map.
As for Pokémon Wind and Pokémon Wave, rumors suggest that both titles will include MMO-like quests and cooperative play with friends. These claims have also not been officially confirmed.
