Pokémon TCG player Parvy recently showcased a misprinted Psychic Energy card on Twitter. This card is from the newly released "30th Anniversary Celebration" set, with part of the Mewtwo ex artwork and text overlaid on the card face, resulting in an overlap of printing content from two different cards.
The "30th Anniversary Celebration" is a special set released to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the Pokémon franchise, with a focus on Pikachu. Each pack contains one Pikachu card, with 30 different card arts available to collect. The set also includes reprints of cards from previous generations, including Charizard and Pikachu from the original Base Set, and the Special Illustration Rare Magikarp from the "Paldea Evolved" set.
The holographic card Parvy pulled has about half of the Special Illustration Rare Mewtwo ex artwork overlaid on it, showing Mewtwo's silhouette, card name, and attack text. The overlay extends across the card's edge, with the original purple background and gray border of the Psychic Energy card still visible underneath. The normal version of this Mewtwo ex is currently selling for nearly $100 on TCGPlayer, making it one of the higher-priced cards in the set.
The "Classic Collection" subset of this set follows a similar approach to the 25th Anniversary "Celebrations" set, with reprinted cards featuring gold borders and a 30th-anniversary mark. Additionally, the set includes an unannounced RGB version of Mew ex, which has already seen transactions exceeding $20,000 on trading platforms like eBay.
The accompanying products include the Elite Trainer Box and the Poster Collection Box. The latter comes with a poster featuring the set's theme design on the front and showcasing each card from the set on the back. This release also introduces a new "Future Rare" rarity, with Pikachu, Mewtwo, and Mew all featuring colorful card faces using this rarity.
The Pokémon Company has also confirmed that two premium collection boxes will be released for this set, featuring Espeon and Umbreon themes respectively.
