The co-op deck-building game Hellcard 2 has released a new demo, now available for download on Steam. The demo trailer was unveiled at PC Gaming Show Tokyo Direct 2026, with the full version scheduled for release in 2027.
This title is the sequel to Hellcard, which received "Very Positive" reviews on Steam. The sequel features a papercraft art style, combining co-op gameplay with lightweight rogue-like deck-building mechanics. Players must delve into dungeons to battle papercraft-styled minions and dragons. The new trailer also opens with visuals resembling a pop-up book unfolding.
The game supports single-player and online co-op modes. In single-player mode, players can control multiple characters simultaneously; when teaming up with friends, coordination in card play and combining each other's cards is required.
Monster positioning is a crucial factor in combat. Enemies may be in melee or ranged range, requiring players to choose appropriate cards based on their positions. Decks can focus on melee, waiting for enemies to approach, be built around ranged attacks, or mix both strategies to handle different situations.
Compared to its predecessor, the sequel introduces equippable gear for heroes. This gear not only changes character appearances but also modifies decks, as well as the stats and buffs characters receive.
