The previously delayed first free DLC for the survival climbing game Alone in the Mountain, titled On the Trail: Deep Water (tentative translation), has been confirmed for release on October 29, 2026. The new release date was announced during the PC Gaming Show Tokyo Direct event.
On the Trail: Deep Water is the first in a series of planned free expansions for the game, adding three new climbing locations. Among them, the cliffs at Haken and Ruka feature overhangs above the water, requiring players to scale these outward-jutting rock faces. The water also provides a safety net, as falling into it after a slip incurs no penalty.
Another new location is the Lamu Climbing Gym. Here, players can practice their climbing skills in a relatively safe environment, tackling challenges that differ from outdoor cliffs.
In addition to the new locations, the DLC will introduce Marco as a playable character. Players can choose him to experience a climbing style different from Aava's.
Both characters are available in the new Free Play mode. This mode allows players to reload saves on the mountain to practice climbing or try out new routes.
The DLC is now available to wishlist on Steam. The base game, Alone in the Mountain, is also currently 20% off on Steam until September 26.
