The open-world RPG Anomaly Factor has surpassed 166,000 concurrent players on Steam, exceeding Palworld. According to SteamDB data from September 20, only eight games had higher concurrent player counts than this title at that time.
Anomaly Factor focuses on creature collection with a Pokémon-like style. Its overall look is similar to Genshin Impact, but it does not use a gacha system. Both Anomaly Factor and Palworld draw inspiration from Pokémon, the highest-grossing multimedia IP globally. This comparison looks at the concurrent player counts of both games at that time.
During the same period, Anomaly Factor's concurrent player count was also higher than that of Rust, Delta Force, and Slay the Spire 2. Games such as Bongo Cat, Apex Legends™, and Dota 2 ranked above it, with Counter-Strike 2 taking the top spot.
The game's previous demo reviews were not universally positive. PC Gamer editor Lauren Morton stated after playing during the January closed beta that she struggled to find aspects where this title outperformed other creature-collection or gacha games.
