Players take on the role of a boy who accompanies his father into the forest to catch rhinoceros beetles, continuing the search for insects after nightfall.
The forest is calm and peaceful during the day, making this bug-catching trip seem like it would become a cherished memory between father and son. But when night falls, the atmosphere changes dramatically. The game centers on the experience of a familiar woodland turning terrifying after dark, requiring players to recall sights from daytime as they navigate through the darkness.
The faint beam from the boy's flashlight is the only reliance during nighttime exploration. Players must use this limited light to find all 19 species of rhinoceros beetles inhabiting the forest.
The game features three endings, and the player's actions will alter the boy's fate. Only after experiencing all endings can you uncover part of the truth behind the events that took place in the forest.
