The 2027 Tokyo Game Show is scheduled to take place from September 16 to 20, spanning five days, with the offline venue planned at Makuhari Messe. The Computer Entertainment Supplier's Association (CESA) announced this schedule on September 20, 2026, while also revealing the four-day attendance figure for this year's event: 257,642 visitors.
The 2026 Tokyo Game Show was originally scheduled to run from September 17 to 21, marking the first time the event was extended to five days. Due to the approach of Typhoon No. 25, the organizers canceled all offline activities for the entire day of September 21, prioritizing the safety of attendees, exhibitors, and related personnel during their travel. Consequently, the attendance figures for this year only cover the four days from September 17 to 20.
This year's event was held at Makuhari Messe and TKP Tokyo Bay Makuhari Hall. The total four-day attendance was lower than the 263,101 recorded in 2025 and the 274,739 in 2024, but attendance on both the first business day and the first public day exceeded the figures for the corresponding days last year.
This year marks the 30th anniversary of the Tokyo Game Show, with 1,138 companies and organizations from 53 countries and regions participating, surpassing the record set in 2025. The event showcased new titles for consoles, smart devices, PCs, and VR platforms, along with related products, services, and limited-edition merchandise.
The event stage in Hall 1 hosted keynote speeches, the Future Division awards ceremony for the Japan Game Awards 2026, and panel discussions featuring creators from game titles also celebrating their 30th anniversaries. A total of 3,673 business meetings were facilitated through the event's business matching system, setting a new historical record.
A total of 25 official programs were broadcast online. In addition to official accounts and Niconico, the event partnered with Douyu and Bilibili to provide live streams for Chinese audiences, and collaborated with IGN for broadcasts to audiences in Europe and America.
Following the cancellation of offline activities on September 21, official programs that do not require audience attendance and can ensure safety are still scheduled to air as planned. These include the "Red Bull Revenge" Street Fighter 6 invitational exhibition match featuring eight top players, as well as the closing stage program for this year's event. Some exhibitors will also conduct online live streams, with specific schedules and replay information to be announced gradually on the event's official website and other channels.
