"Ancestral Armor" launched the free update "Overture 16: Hook and Wolf" on September 19, 2026, adding wolf cub interactions, fishing gameplay, and a dynamic weather system. Digital Extremes is currently conducting closed alpha testing for the game on PC. This update also introduces new weapons and armor, along with improved quality-of-life features.
Wolf cub interactions are highly requested by the community. After completing the "Imprisoned Mother Wolf" story and choosing a wolf cub companion, players can bring it along to explore Arca. Throwing sticks for it to fetch, feeding it, fighting together, and daily interactions all strengthen your bond. The development team plans to expand this feature in future updates, eventually making wolf companions rideable mounts.
The newly added quiet fishing spots introduce fishing gameplay, where players can use six types of lures to catch six kinds of fish, including the Emerald Thornback and the Boilhead Wampa. After cleansing the Ode corruption from the scales, players can either release the fish back into the pond or take them home to feed their wolf cubs, with rewards for both choices.
This update also revamps the Tempering system, allowing players to more freely adjust weapon modifiers when customizing their loadouts.
New equipment includes the two-handed hammer "Lis," the casting staff "Gishtalt," the rapier "Grimana" usable as an off-hand weapon, and the "Sleeve" armor set.
