No More Overall Difficulty Increase: Monster Hunter Wilds: Overcome Focuses Challenges on Endgame

Capcom plans to adjust the difficulty design of Monster Hunter Wilds: Overcome. The main story will remain accessible with a low barrier to entry, while more severe challenges will be concentrated in endgame content. Game Director Takuro Hiraoka stated that the development team made this adjustment because players demonstrated a higher skill level than previously expected.

不再全面提高难度 《怪物猎人:荒野 凌越》将挑战集中于终局

Monster Hunter Wilds was originally designed with new player accessibility in mind. When analyzing Monster Hunter: World, the team found that some players would quit due to the rapid increase in difficulty during story progression, leading them to adopt a more gradual difficulty curve in the new title.

However, actual player performance deviated from the team's expectations. Takuro Hiraoka remarked, "There was a slight gap in our expectations; players may be stronger than we imagined." This prompted Capcom to reconsider the challenge distribution for Monster Hunter Wilds: Overcome.

Under the current plan, Capcom will not directly increase the difficulty of the entire expansion. The main story portion will maintain a relatively easy-to-progress design, allowing players to experience the story prepared by the development team without facing excessively high barriers.

Higher-difficulty content will be placed in the endgame phase, allowing experienced hunters to test their mechanics and skills. Takuro Hiraoka explained that players who purchase the expansion should have the opportunity to experience as much of the story as possible, so the team chose to segment content by challenge intensity rather than making the entire experience uniformly more difficult.

This approach caters to the needs of different players: newcomers can continue progressing through the main story, while veteran hunters familiar with the series can face significantly higher-threshold challenges in endgame activities.
