CD Projekt RED announced that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remake will launch on September 29, 2026, and will officially join the Xbox Play Anywhere program. Players who already own the digital version for Xbox consoles can download the PC version for free via the Microsoft Store app without needing to purchase it again.
With this program, saves, game progress, and achievements for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt can be synchronized between Xbox consoles and Windows PCs, allowing players to continue their progress across both platforms.
CD Projekt RED's Japan branch also confirmed that the PC version sold on the Microsoft Store in Japan will carry a CERO Z age rating, marking the first time one of the company's PC games has received this classification. This change does not affect versions on other digital storefronts such as Steam and GOG.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remake and its subsequent story expansion, Old Times Tune, are both being developed by Fool’s Theory. CD Projekt RED stated that handing over the project to an external team was not an easy decision, but it allows the company's main development resources to focus on The Witcher 4.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remake will be available as a free update. Owners of the original game will receive this update on all current platforms, with the same release date of September 29, 2026.
