Capcom has confirmed that Khezu will return in the "Beyond" expansion for Monster Hunter Wilds, becoming one of the classic monsters in the expanded roster. This eyeless flying wyvern, with its pale skin and massive maw, will also gain new attack patterns.
Khezu primarily inhabits caves, where it clings to ceilings with its tail and attacks hunters with electricity. Battles against it typically do not feature background music, making the quiet environment a distinctive characteristic of this hunt.
In the "Beyond" expansion, Khezu will utilize its flexible neck and giant mouth to execute new moves, attempting to grab and swallow hunters. Previously appearing only as gatherable objects, juvenile Khezu will now become small monsters that can engage in combat.
Khezu first appeared in the original Monster Hunter in 2004 and has since returned in titles such as Monster Hunter Rise and its Sunbreak expansion. The "Beyond" update is also confirmed to bring back monsters like Kushala Daora, Lao-Shan Lung, and Teostra, while introducing new creatures such as the Wyvern species Spritzbird and the Elder Dragon species Thunder Dragon.
In addition to the monster roster, "Beyond" will introduce Master Rank, stronger individual monsters, and new weapons and armor. The expansion includes the "Amplified Bracers" mechanic and a new area called the "Cloud Dwelling Ruins," a region composed of floating ruins linked to an ancient Dragonoid civilization.
Monster Hunter Wilds: "Beyond" is scheduled to launch on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S in 2027, though a specific release date has not yet been announced.
