Todd Howard previously confirmed that Fallout 5 will be Bethesda's next game after completing The Elder Scrolls VI. The Elder Scrolls VI was announced back in 2018 and remains the studio's upcoming release.
Players have been waiting for The Elder Scrolls VI for over eight years. During this time, Bethesda has worked on other projects, including the open-world sci-fi game Starfield. Starfield was released in 2023, and the studio is now primarily focused on The Elder Scrolls VI.
The Elder Scrolls VI does not have a confirmed release date yet. Based on Bethesda's previous release patterns, 2028 might be the earliest players can expect to see it, though the actual launch could be even later. Fallout 5 is scheduled after that, meaning an even longer wait; a release in the 2030s is also just speculation.
In addition to the two new titles, Bethesda has confirmed that remastered versions of Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas are in the works. Obsidian Entertainment, which helped develop Fallout: New Vegas, is also working on a new Fallout game.
While waiting for The Elder Scrolls VI and Fallout 5, Bethesda also plans to continue releasing expansion content and other updates for Fallout 76.
