Konami has released a mobile port of the original Castlevania game to celebrate its 40th anniversary, offering it for free for a limited time, while also launching series-wide discounts on the PlayStation Store and Steam. The original Castlevania was released on the Famicom Disk System on September 26, 1986, marking its 40th anniversary this September 26.
This mobile game, titled Castlevania 40th Anniversary Edition, is available on the iOS and Android app stores. The game is currently free and will be removed from the stores after October 24; players who claim it before then can continue to play.
PlayStation Store discounts last until October 7: Castlevania Anniversary Collection is 80% off, Castlevania Dominus Collection is 50% off, and Castlevania Advance Collection and Castlevania Requiem: Symphony of the Night & Rondo of Blood are both 70% off.
Steam discounts last until October 1. Castlevania: Lords of Shadow Ultimate Edition, the Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 Digital Bundle, the "Revelations" DLC for Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2, and Castlevania: Lords of Shadow - Mirror of Fate HD are all 80% off.
The new series entry, Castlevania: Belmont's Curse, is scheduled to launch on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and PC on October 15. A demo will be released on October 1, and players can carry over their demo save data to the full version.
