Naoki Hamaguchi Says Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Will Make Platinum Trophy Easier to Obtain

The Platinum trophy for Final Fantasy VII Rebirth will be easier to earn than that of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. Director Naoki Hamaguchi stated that the finale will adjust the trophy requirements, aiming for 20% or more players to achieve the Platinum trophy.

Earning the Platinum trophy in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth required players to engage deeply with a vast amount of content. Naoki Hamaguchi explained that the development team originally hoped players would experience as much of this content as possible, so they designed the Platinum trophy to require thorough gameplay, which inadvertently made it too difficult to obtain.

Subsequently, player feedback indicated that earning the Platinum trophy was overly challenging. Battle Director Takayuki Endo expressed apology and regret over this. Naoki Hamaguchi stated that while he didn't want to label the previous design as a misjudgment outright, the development team had underestimated the number of players striving for the Platinum trophy.

For comparison, in the Steam version of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, only 2.3% of players earned the achievement "The Planet's Hope," which corresponds to the Platinum trophy. Director Naoki Hamaguchi's target of 20% or higher suggests that the Platinum trophy for Final Fantasy VII Rebirth will be designed to be easier to obtain than its predecessor.
