Square Enix has revealed new gameplay and story details for Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Tree of Bianka and Flora, covering the Quick Scout Capture and Co-op Battle systems. The publisher also released new game assets and confirmed that the title will officially launch on December 3, 2026. A free demo is now available.
The Quick Scout Capture feature allows players to recruit wild monsters without entering battle. Players can approach monsters in the wild, feed them meat, and try to persuade them to join the party. Rare monsters that do not appear in the wild can be obtained at the Scout Ranch—a fenced area located in the Withered Forest that unlocks later in the story.
In Co-op Battle mode, Bianca and Nera will team up to take on giant enemies that are too tough for a single player. They share HP and MP, can taunt enemies to build up their Aggro Gauge, and wear monsters down until they are exhausted. Co-op Battles can be played in the Battle Arena and support online co-op with up to four friends.
New story details also disclose the disappearance of Almira. Voiced by Grace Saif, she is the guardian of the Withered Forest and the watcher of the Progenitor Hawk.
The official announcement also revealed three new capturable monsters: the Hammerhead Boss wielding a massive hammer, the Golden-Eyed Slug with the Water-elemental "Benthic Foraging" trait, and the Panda Pilgrim holding a staff.
The free demo is available on all platforms, featuring all story content up to the party's arrival at the Withered Forest, as well as access to the Quick Scout Capture and Synthesis systems. Demo save data can be carried over to the full version, and players can unlock the "Tamer Pack," which includes bonus items.
Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Tree of Bianka and Flora will be released on December 3, 2026, for Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. The PC version will be available via Steam and the Microsoft Store.
