Silent Hill: Townfall launched on PC via Steam and on PS5 this September. Although the game was cracked before its official release, it has clearly achieved a certain level of success.
According to Alinea Analytics, Silent Hill: Townfall sold over 404,000 copies in its first month on the market. On the PlayStation platform alone, the game generated $20.2 million in revenue, with physical sales accounting for a substantial 42.8%. The PlayStation platform contributed 70.9% of the game's total revenue, while Steam and GOG combined accounted for the remaining 29.1%.
Alinea's data shows that physical retail copies of Silent Hill: Townfall have also sold out completely, indicating that market demand for physical game editions has exceeded existing inventory.
The horror game genre also appears to be growing on Steam. From the start of 2026 to date, total revenue for horror games on Steam reached $1.3 billion, a 17% increase over 2025. Of this, 41% came from games released in 2026. This is not surprising, given the year's lineup of hit titles, including the release of Resident Evil 9: Requiem. To date, this single title has contributed $211.3 million in revenue to Valve's platform in 2026 alone.
In late September, estimates indicated that Resident Evil 9: Requiem had surpassed $500 million in total revenue, with a similarly high proportion from physical sales: on the PlayStation platform, disc version sales accounted for approximately 30.8% of total sales.
