New clues have emerged regarding the release window for Star Wars Jedi 3. As the sequel to Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, this game has not yet been officially announced. However, EA confirmed back in 2024 that development is underway. These are the only official details available so far, while unofficial sources have revealed more information.
The information comes from Bloomberg journalist Jason Schreier. According to him, this new Star Wars game is "in the late stages of development" and "should be officially announced soon." Unfortunately, there are no further specific details beyond this update.
Only 11 months passed between the official announcement and the release of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. Following this pace, if Star Wars Jedi 3 is announced soon, its release may not be far off either.
Previous rumors suggested that the game would be released in 2027. If these rumors are accurate, it could be officially announced sometime between now and the end of this year. In that case, related news might appear at The Game Awards ceremony held in December.
The previous game was officially announced at the Star Wars Celebration in May 2022, but gameplay footage and the release date were not revealed until The Game Awards (TGA) ceremony later that year. This means the series has indeed shared major news at The Game Awards before, so it might happen again this time.
However, the interval between announcement and release for the third game could even be shorter than its predecessor. As the third installment in the series, it may not require an extended promotional runway. Therefore, even if the game isn't announced in 2026, it could still launch in 2027. Foreign media outlet Comicbook predicts it will appear in 2027, more specifically during the 2027 holiday season.
This is certainly good news for players who have been waiting for the third Cal Kestis game. However, Star Wars fans haven't been left without games to play recently. One of this year's best titles is a Star Wars game. With Star Wars Racer and Star Wars Zero Squad, this year could even be considered the strongest year for Star Wars games in recent memory.
Meanwhile, another report from the same source mentions that Star Wars fans can look forward to a new Star Wars: Battlefront game in the future. However, this title is clearly still a long way from release.
