Digital Extremes has announced that the open-world co-op fantasy action RPG "Ancestral Legacy" will launch its free public Alpha test on November 9. Players will be able to participate without an invitation, but this open access remains part of the development-stage testing and is not the official release.
"Ancestral Legacy" has been using an invite-only Alpha test since 2023. The game focuses on melee combat, featuring crafting, weapon progression, and story missions, along with highly customizable combat and skill systems. This adjustment will lower the barrier to entry and further expand the scale of the test.
Alongside the announcement of the open test schedule, the developer of "Warframe" showcased the upcoming "Verse of the Veilands" update. The update will introduce rideable wolf companions that players can raise from pups; other new content includes weapons, contracts, bosses, and a new system called "Veilands." The developers describe this system as an "environmental world progression system."
Creative Director Geoff Crookes stated that the project has been shaped from the start by a small community of players participating in the "Preludes" tests. The team believes that now is the right time to expand the community and gather feedback following the reveal of the mount and world progression systems; input from more players will also help the team decide the future direction of the game's development.
