Enthusiasts Run Pokémon: Pokopia on Hacked PS5, Despite Severe Visual Glitches

Console modding enthusiasts have managed to run Pokémon: Pokopia on a jailbroken PlayStation 5. This experiment required first loading Ubuntu 24.04 into the console's memory and then launching the game through a third-party environment, rather than running it directly on the PS5's native system.

Publicly released videos show that the DualSense controller can control character movement and interact with the environment, while physics effects, UI, and text dialogue also function. However, due to the lack of compiled shaders and textures, the graphics pipeline still suffers from serious errors, with Pokémon, trees, and other scene objects mostly appearing as black outlines.

Members of the Centro LEAKS community believe that a native port may appear soon, but this is merely third-party speculation, with no completed results available yet. Meanwhile, developer Bushigan stated that ProsperoEden, designed for jailbroken PS5 consoles, is about to receive a major update. This project is a native adaptation of the Eden emulator that does not require an intermediate operating system, and the developer claims the new version will support Switch 2 projects.

The demonstration interface featured titles such as The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and Super Mario 3D All-Stars, along with directories containing files from Mario Kart World, while also providing options like Vulkan asynchronous shaders. However, the presence of game files in the interface does not mean these titles are running stably, and the related repositories and communities face the risk of being taken down.
