Kingdom Hearts will celebrate its 25th anniversary in 2027. The first announced commemorative item is not a new game, but the re-release of the "Traverse Town" themed music box. Retailer Aitai Kuji is preparing restocks, with sales spanning from late 2026 to 2027. Those who order early are expected to receive the product around the start of the anniversary period.
This music box was originally released in November 2025 and plays an arranged version of the "Traverse Town" theme from the original Kingdom Hearts. The item features a transparent casing that allows the internal mechanical structure to be seen, with dimensions of approximately 2.36 inches wide, 1.97 inches deep, and 1.38 inches high.
"Traverse Town" is one of the first major locations Sora visits after leaving Destiny Islands, and it serves as the stage where players first meet several Final Fantasy characters. The music box was previously priced at 2,970 yen (approximately $19), but the price for the re-release may change. Square Enix has previously released music boxes for titles such as Final Fantasy IX, Final Fantasy X, and Chrono Trigger.
Kingdom Hearts IV is scheduled for release in 2027, but there is currently no evidence that the new title will be announced alongside this music box re-release. Aside from this item, other 25th-anniversary merchandise, events, and game announcements have yet to be confirmed.
