The Magic: The Gathering Marvel crossover series "Darkhold: Fates" is still nearly half a year away from release, but Amazon has already opened pre-orders for bundles of the four Commander decks. The Standard Edition is priced at $299.96, and the Collector's Edition at $639.96, with a listed release date of April 9, 2027.
The four decks are Sanctum Sanctorum, Asgardian Gods, Midnight Sons, and Rulers of Hel. The Standard Edition costs approximately $74.99 per deck, while the Collector's Edition costs approximately $159.99 per deck. Each deck contains 100 ready-to-play cards, including 30 new cards making their debut in the Magic: The Gathering Commander format, along with 10 double-sided tokens, a deck box, and a strategy guide.
The Standard Edition includes two traditional foil legendary creature cards per deck, while all 100 cards in the Collector's Edition feature surge foil treatment. In terms of gameplay, Doctor Strange's white-blue-black deck focuses on creatures leaving and returning to the battlefield to reuse their enter-the-battlefield effects; Hela's red-black deck centers around tokens and sacrifice.
Thor's red-green-white deck focuses on Equipment and creatures with power 4 or greater, while Blade's black-white deck revolves around Vampires, life gain, and abilities triggered by paying life. Although the four decks differ in theme and mechanics, their full card lists have not been revealed yet. It is currently impossible to judge their competitive strength upon release, and whether the high-priced collector's editions are worth buying remains to be seen pending further card information.
