Square Enix has officially revealed the full trailer and release window for Final Fantasy XIV: Frozen Horizon. The expansion will open for early access on February 19, 2027, with the full version releasing on February 23, marking a delay from the previously promised January 2027 window. Pre-orders will begin on November 4.
Naoki Yoshida stated that the team had strived to complete development by late January, but more time was needed to fulfill the many commitments already made. The release date and related content were announced at "Final Fantasy XIV Fan Festival 2026 Tokyo."
The presentation also fully showcased the new ranged physical DPS job, "Kazematsuri." This job becomes available at level 90, uses a crossbow for combat, and attacks in coordination with a bird-like familiar named Nephele, while also offering party support and various mobility abilities.
The expansion will introduce zones and dungeons that scale with player level, an Adventurer Activities interface centered on weekly quests, a system for sharing the highest item level across classes, and a four-player boss rush called "Trial of Might." The new alliance raid will be split into two parts with an eight-player high-difficulty version added, while high-difficulty raids will switch to personal loot and items that can be exchanged for specific gear.
Character creation benchmarking is expected to launch in December 2026. Other previously announced changes include action appearances, custom eye colors, auto-remounting, seasonal gear, and substat editing.
