Recently, Naoki Hamaguchi, project director for Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, stated that while the game is being developed for multiple platforms, the team has not compromised on game design or gameplay experience. To address the technical requirements of different hardware, the project adopted a strategy of divided development and targeted optimization.
Naoki Hamaguchi explained that the core development team usually focuses primarily on the PS5 and PC versions, while another group handles adaptations for platforms like the Switch 2. The team aims to manage differences in hardware environments through this division of labor while preserving the intended overall gaming experience.
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is the third installment following Final Fantasy VII Remake and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. The game is scheduled to launch on PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Switch 2 on April 8, 2027.
