The Backrooms Director Has Envisioned the Series' End! Future Sequels Will Adopt Branching Narratives

Kane Parsons, director of "The Backrooms," has already conceived the endpoint for the series and plans to have future sequels expand the story in multiple directions rather than following a single linear path. The currently revealed content reflects creative intentions, not specific plot details or an official cast lineup.

On "The Kyle Buchanan Show," Parsons stated that the series should end when the previously established content finally converges and there is nothing more left to express in this world. He does not wish to continue development simply because the work remains popular, nor is he prepared to rush the process or let the subject matter exceed its appropriate boundaries.

He also acknowledged that parts of the first film failed to fully capture the core of the "Backrooms" culture as he understands it, hoping that future films will revisit and refine these elements to more accurately present the atmosphere and concepts he envisions. In his view, the "Backrooms" should be more alien and harder to define clearly than general movie audiences might expect.

When discussing potential characters for the sequel, Parsons did not reveal any names, only stating that there are several specific roles he is excited about that may appear in the future. He compared the structure of the sequel to different branches on a tree, with the story unfolding in multiple directions.

The film adaptation will also differ significantly from the YouTube series. The online shorts only presented fragmented pieces of the entire mythology, leaving ample room for exploration in the film. The 21-year-old Parsons emphasized that he wants to develop the series according to the needs of the genre itself and bring the story to a close at the right moment.
