A survey of 1,347 U.S. players found that 7% of respondents would be willing to neglect their pets for a month in exchange for getting to play GTA VI one week early. Among respondents who had already pre-ordered the game, this figure rose to 13%. These results are based on hypothetical scenarios and do not imply that such behaviors have actually occurred.
The survey conducted by Unwind Media also asked about other potential trade-offs. 21% of respondents said they would be willing to temporarily give up their intimate lives, with 25% of female respondents and 19% of male respondents sharing this view.
Meanwhile, 53% of respondents plan to play GTA VI with their partners; this figure stands at 71% among female respondents and 39% among male respondents. Another 8% believe that the game's relationship mechanics could constitute a form of "infidelity."
GTA VI is scheduled to launch on November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 5 Pro, and Xbox Series X|S. Since the survey only included U.S. players, these percentages should be understood in the context of the sample size and questioning method, and do not directly represent the attitudes of all players.
