Stellar Blade Complete Edition on Switch 2 Improves Handheld Experience, Docked Mode Still Needs Optimization

The experience of Stellar Blade: Complete Edition on the final release version of Switch 2 has improved compared to the previous demo. The key change is that players can now disable frame generation, which was enabled by default. After about a week of playtesting, the rpgsite reviewer found handheld mode more appealing, but noted that docked mode still requires optimization.

The author stated that frame generation causes input lag, visual artifacts, and irregular frame rates in certain animations, so they recommend disabling it. This version offers only one graphics mode; even with frame generation disabled, it uses an uncapped frame rate, struggling to maintain a stable 60 FPS during combat, with fluctuations being particularly noticeable in docked mode. For players who already own a PS5, the author does not recommend this version as the primary choice for TV play.

Handheld mode received relatively better reviews. Compared to the Steam Deck, Switch 2 offers more stable environmental visuals during movement, and its HD Rumble performance was highly praised. However, the Steam Deck can achieve a more stable 40 FPS target through settings while maintaining good image quality.

The Switch 2 port supports gyroscope controls, mouse input, and touch-screen menus, and allows separate UI scaling adjustments for handheld and docked modes. The Complete Edition includes all previously released DLC and features Bayonetta crossover costumes, which will also be available on PS5 and PC.

The author hopes future updates will add 30 FPS or 40 FPS quality modes. Stellar Blade: Complete Edition will launch on Switch 2 on November 5.
