Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III DMZ's First Solo Story Mission! Suspected Use of Private Instances

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4's DMZ mode may feature an undisclosed adjustment. Recent player feedback suggests that when attempting story missions for the first time in solo mode, players might enter a private instance without other players, though Infinity Ward has not officially confirmed this mechanism.

DMZ was originally designed as a PvPvE extraction gameplay mode, where players can freely explore, engage in dynamic operations with continuously generated tasks, or complete more structured story missions. However, at launch, story missions could still match players with others, meaning solo participants might encounter involuntary PvP.

During a test of the first solo attempt, the tester deliberately made noise but encountered no other players throughout the session; the recent players list on social pages remained empty, and common PvPvE elements like UAV towers or surface-to-air missile sites were not activated on the map. These observations are seen as potential indicators of a private instance.

Current indications suggest that if this arrangement exists, its applicability may be very limited, covering only the first attempt at story missions by solo players; when repeating missions, players may re-enter environments with PvP risks. Additionally, there are reports of encountering other players during story missions, so the trigger conditions and scope of the private instance have not yet been fully confirmed.
