Remedy's Q3 Revenue Rises to €39.6 Million as Control: Resonance Surpasses One Million Sales

Pre-orders and the initial seven days of post-launch sales for Control: Resonance drove Remedy's third-quarter revenue up by 226% year-over-year to €39.6 million. The physical edition of the game was released on October 15, after which total sales exceeded 1 million copies, making it Remedy's fastest-selling title to date.

Game sales and royalties contributed €35 million this quarter, compared to €6 million in the same period last year. Development costs for Max Payne 1&2 Remake, along with the final development payment for Control: Resonance under the Annapurna agreement, totaled €4.3 million.

In terms of market composition, the United States accounted for approximately half of Control: Resonance's PC and console sales. The PC market was followed by Chinese regions and the UK; other major regions in the console market included the UK, Canada, and Brazil.

Remedy's internal data shows that nearly half of the players had not previously engaged with the Control series, and there are still 2.4 million wishlists yet to convert. The 2019 release of Control also saw its sales surpass those of the comparison period and the first two quarters of this year, boosted by the new title.

Remedy stated that the Alan Wake series was relatively quiet this quarter, and the capitalized development costs for Alan Wake 2 have been fully amortized.
