AI Content in New Steam Releases Reaches 49.9% in October 2026

A community analysis of Steam product descriptions shows that 49.9% of new releases on the platform in October 2026 disclosed the use of AI-generated content. The proportion for the same period in 2025 was 26.4%, meaning the latest figure is nearly double that of the previous year.

The same analysis lists the figure for January 2024 at just 1.7%, indicating a significant increase in disclosure rates over more than two years. However, the statistics cover only new titles with AI usage declarations in their product descriptions, not all games independently verified to have used AI.

According to the material, titles disclosing AI use are primarily smaller-scale games, while large, high-budget productions still rely mainly on manual creation. Related technologies may also be used only for auxiliary development tasks such as temporary textures, so disclosing AI content does not mean the entire game was made by AI.

This dataset is derived from community user analysis. The available materials do not provide complete sample criteria, total number of titles, data tables, or specific statistical methods. The 49.9% figure can be used to observe changes in AI content disclosure among new Steam releases, but it cannot alone explain the specific scope of use, content quality, or development investment, nor can it serve as an official statistical conclusion covering the entire gaming industry.
