Pokémon GO Announces Gameplay Adjustments: Auto-Catch Feature Now Works While Using the Adventure Sync

Scopely has announced a batch of core gameplay and quality-of-life changes for Pokémon GO, with a focus on expanding the use cases for the Go-tcha device. After the update, the device will attempt to automatically catch Pokémon and spin PokéStops while players have the game open and are playing normally.

When the Go-tcha device is activated, a pink Poké Ball icon will appear on the interface, indicating that the system is attempting to catch or spin. While this icon is visible, players can still manually tap on Pokémon or PokéStops. Previously, the device primarily performed these functions when the game was closed.

The Go-tcha device will be freely available to all eligible players, but users must be at least level 20, can only activate it once per day, and there are caps on auto-spinning and catching. The device will also pause when your Pokémon storage is full. Similar features were previously integrated into the paid accessory "Pokémon GO Plus+," which is now harder to purchase.

This update also revamps the post-catch summary screen to display rewards and catch bonuses more clearly, and adds a button for direct appraisal. The color saturation of PokéStops will be increased, and the visual effects around Mystery Boxes and Golden Lure Modules will be improved. Special wild encounters triggered after visiting Power Spots or winning Max Battles will be removed.

The free track of the November GO Pass offers 400 PokéCoins, while the premium version provides an additional 1,000, totaling 1,400 PokéCoins across both tracks, with Groudon as the month's featured Pokémon.
