"Guild Wars: Reforged" has announced its first new expansion in nearly two decades, "Afterlife." This DLC will launch on PC, Steam, iOS, and Android on January 13, 2027, introducing dungeon gameplay with a Roguelike structure.
Previously, data miners discovered Central American-style content in the game files, leading some players to speculate that the unreleased "Utopia" expansion might be revived. The new announcement confirms that these clues were indeed related to new content, but what was ultimately released is a brand-new DLC.
The story of "Afterlife" will lead players through the Mists of Tyria to Xotecha. The local Order of the Moonless Night is battling against emerging nightmares and the mysterious Odran cult, with their conflict centered around the ever-changing dungeon known as the "Unformed Lands."
Players can team up to enter dungeons or bring mercenaries to challenge new maps, enemies, and bosses. At the start of each exploration run, players must build a skill bar exclusive to that run; after encounters, they can choose enhancements from new abilities. Rewards earned from victories can be used within this mode as well as in other areas of the game.
The "Guild Wars: Reforged" DLC is priced at $30, with a pre-order price of $24. Pre-orders also include an ancestor-themed Order robe appearance.
