Team Fortress 2 Mod "Mann vs. Zombies" Revealed! Planned for Early 2027 Release

The community team Breadworks has revealed new gameplay footage of Mann vs. Zombies, a total conversion mod for Team Fortress 2, with an initial target release window of early 2027. The mod supports single-player and allows up to eight players to cooperate against endless zombie hordes.

Mann vs. Zombies transforms several iconic Team Fortress 2 locations into defensive strongholds. Its gameplay structure draws inspiration from Call of Duty's Zombies mode and bears similarities to Left 4 Dead. Players must contend with constantly spawning enemies while managing resources, repairing barricades, and purchasing weapons at designated spots on the walls.

Vending machines scattered across the maps provide drinks with buff effects, while a device called the Mannifester is used to upgrade weapons. The arsenal is not limited to Team Fortress 2's original loadout; it also includes tactical rifles inspired by real-world firearms and heavy crowd-control tools.

The mod's name is derived from the official "Mann vs. Machine" mode, but there is no final wave or completion endpoint. The goal is to survive as long as possible. Familiar classes, maps, and cosmetic systems are recombined into an endless survival experience that emphasizes cooperative defense and resource cycling.

Mann vs. Zombies will offer full Steam Workshop support, making it easy for the community to create custom maps and skins. Players can also use cosmetics they have already unlocked in Team Fortress 2. The mod requires ownership of Team Fortress 2 to run, and the base game is currently free to play on Steam.
