The PS VR2 has been unavailable for purchase on PlayStation Direct in the US in recent weeks. The PS5 accessories section on the US site still lists the PS VR2 title, but only shows charging stations, PC adapters, and third-party protective cases, with no entry point for the headset itself.
Players began noticing these changes around mid-October, as links that previously led to the headset purchase page now return a 404 error. The device has also been removed from the hardware section of the Japanese PlayStation Direct store and the US PlayStation app.
Amazon, Best Buy, and Walmart still show some stock, but the items are mainly offered by third-party sellers at prices significantly higher than normal, with Best Buy listing a price of around $750. PlayStation Direct in the UK currently still has PS VR2 headsets for sale.
These regional differences have led media to speculate that Sony may be scaling back PS VR2 sales. However, Sony has not officially announced discontinuation or an end to sales. Whether discounts and official stock appear during the upcoming Black Friday will further indicate whether this change is a supply issue or a more long-term sales adjustment.
