Sony Interactive Entertainment has revealed the story background, main characters, and system details for Until Dawn 2: The Curse of Manjusaka. Scheduled for release on PS5 on January 28, 2027, the game follows eight members of a paranormal show who encounter genuine horrors at an abandoned resort.
This sequel to the 2015 title Until Dawn features a new setting and cast, allowing the story to be understood independently. The protagonists run a supernatural video channel called "Dead True," having gained popularity through fabricated videos and secured a TV contract. After traveling to an abandoned resort on Angi Island in the South Pacific to film their show, the group is forced into a fight for survival.
Confirmed characters include the ambitious host Owen, paranormal enthusiast Mina, show director Nate, and Cameron, who handles the horror segments. Dacre Montgomery and Tanner Buchanan join the cast, while Peter Storman, who played Dr. Hill in the previous game, also returns.
The series' "Butterfly Effect" system returns, where player choices and character relationships will alter the course of the story. All eight characters may survive, or they may all perish. Developed by Firesprite with story production support from AdHoc Studio, the game features PSSR2 and advanced ray tracing optimizations for PS5 Pro.
