The Lord of the Rings: War in the North - Legacy Edition Patch 2 Released to Improve Online Stability!

Aspyr has released version 1.000.004 of The Lord of the Rings: War in the North – Legacy Edition across all platforms, officially referred to as Patch 2. This update focuses on improving co-op stability and fixing several issues that could block game progression.

For co-op mode, the patch addresses crashes or freezes occurring during matchmaking, loading screens, and when returning to hubs like Bree and Fornost. It also fixes issues where joining players remained stuck on the map selection screen and where slow-connection players joining during load caused the game to freeze.

Progression fixes include preventing Fornost's goblins from being knocked into unreachable areas, sealing off sections in the Grey Mountains where characters could fall out of bounds, and resolving an issue where Scroll 7 would not count toward the "Order of the Eyeless Eye" side quest. The update also corrects equipment loss when resetting skills, map fragments being incorrectly consumed, and allies getting stuck after opening secret stashes.

In terms of combat, headshot collision detection for enemies like Goblins and Uruk-hai has been restored, and health potions now regenerate as expected. Revived characters will have at least two health potions, two energy potions, and 20 arrows or bolts. Various audio, texture, character model, and UI display issues have also been fixed.

Each platform also received specific adjustments: the PC version adds Steam Controller icons and improves menu scrolling, the Xbox version highlights equipment bonuses in yellow, and both Switch 1 and Switch 2 versions fix crashes that could occur after the screen flashed a solid color.
