Ubisoft chose to create Rayman Legends Reimagined rather than launching a brand-new title directly. Production Director Alessandro Arndt Mucchi explained that the team wanted to build on the solid and still community-approved gameplay of Rayman Legends to lay the foundation for the series' future. This is also Ubisoft's tribute to the 30th anniversary of the Rayman series.
The team believes that while the original showcased multiple areas of the "Dream Forest," players' understanding of the entire world was somewhat fragmented. Rayman Legends Reimagined will further enrich the series' characters and overall worldview while utilizing new 3D rendering techniques. The development team will prioritize preserving the core features, fluidity, and familiar gameplay of the original, while adding freshness to the visuals and experience.
In terms of content, the team will adjust the pacing between old levels, new content, story segments, and gameplay sections to maintain balance throughout the journey. New tracks will be added to the original music levels, while dragon-riding levels will allow players to traverse different worlds and spot bosses before officially confronting them. Whether the dragon-riding mechanic will evolve into a standalone mode remains undecided, with Mucchi stating that no possibilities are ruled out.
Before the official announcement, the team invited community leaders to the Montpellier studio to experience the game and provide immediate feedback. As for whether the series will see brand-new titles or a return to full 3D gameplay in the future, Mucchi stated it is too early to discuss, with Rayman Legends Reimagined being just the first step toward the future.
Rayman Legends Reimagined is scheduled to launch on December 3, 2026, on Ubisoft+, PS5, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC, supporting 1–4 players.
