TeamGroup Warns That DRAM Supply Has Not Yet Reached Its Worst Point

Over the past year or so, DRAM has become the most troublesome segment in the entire computer electronics industry. Supply shortages and soaring prices have caused significant distress for consumers and many manufacturers, and this trend continues. Current indications suggest that global DRAM supply will not ease in the short term, and we haven't yet reached the most severe stage, although the peak pressure seems to be just around the corner.

十铨科技警告称 DRAM供应还没到最糟糕的时刻

According to TECHPOWERUP, Team Group stated during its quarterly earnings conference that the worst period for DRAM supply is expected to occur between Q4 2026 and Q2 2027. As major DRAM manufacturers such as Samsung, SK Hynix, and Micron have sold out their entire inventory for 2027 and signed long-term supply agreements with customers, third-party procurement has become increasingly difficult. Even those willing to pay premium prices may find it hard to source memory.

Although CXMT (ChangXin Memory Technologies) is expanding its production capacity at a rapid pace, with expectations of nearly doubling by 2028, it will still struggle to fill the market demand gap. Supply and demand are not expected to gradually return to balance until the second half of 2028. This is a relatively optimistic view; some industry insiders believe this timeline could be even later.

In the last quarter, 64.6% of Team Group's memory products were sold to enterprises, while only 35.4% were sold directly to consumers. Notably, these figures were reversed a year ago, with B2B accounting for 24.6% and B2C reaching 75.4%. Today, the majority of Team Group's memory product revenue comes from AI servers rather than traditional consumers.
