Fortnite may introduce animated finishing moves for downed players. Leaker HYPEX claims that Epic Games is developing this mechanic, but it has not yet been officially announced.
According to the leaks, triggering a finishing move causes both the executor and the downed player to enter a synchronized animation. The system is said to support various different animations and may include quests requiring players to "finish off downed enemies."
This design has been compared to the long-standing finishing move mechanic in Call of Duty. In Call of Duty, different animations typically appear as unlockable rewards in cosmetic bundles, pop culture collaborations, or battle passes. However, current information only suggests that Fortnite may adopt a similar interaction method, without confirming that its animation acquisition or monetization model will follow suit.
Social media user vixenovaa speculated that finishing moves could become a "major feature" of Chapter 8, but this claim remains unconfirmed. Epic Games has not released any details regarding the launch date, season, applicable modes, animation acquisition methods, or combat balance rules, so the feature currently remains in the rumor stage.
