A prototype of the "Ultimasaurus" from an old Jurassic Park toy line has entered Heritage Auctions' Pre-Production & Prototype Toys auction. This product advanced to the final engineering sample stage but was canceled before mass production, and this marks its first public auction.
The "Ultimasaurus" was originally slated for the Night Hunter line of Jurassic Park: Chaos Effect, with its development context closely following the 1997 film The Lost World: Jurassic Park. It was conceived as a hybrid predator combining features of the Tyrannosaurus rex, Triceratops, Ankylosaurus, and Stegosaurus, predating the hybrid dinosaur concepts seen in Jurassic World.
The original packaging plan included an adult dinosaur, a Roland Tembo figure, a juvenile version, and a Gatling-style missile launcher. Hasbro released the first wave of "Chaos Effect" toys, but subsequent products were affected by retailer order cancellations. Although the Night Hunter line was close to mass production, it was ultimately canceled, resulting in only a small number of produced samples surviving.
This lot comes from the private collection of Brian Wilk, former Vice President of Product Development at Hasbro and a toy design professional. The items have been preserved for nearly 30 years. The auction is expected to conclude around November 22, 2026, and there is currently no final sale price.
